This style is great for short hair. I don’t know if it looks right on me at this length. I styled my hair for the sake of the tutorial and didn’t wear it out so the front could look better.

The night before I planned to do this style, I set my mini braids on rollers. My hair was dry so I sprayed it with my easy moisturizing mix, which is just filtered water and aloe vera juice. I rolled my hair on these flexible foam rollers. I placed more rollers towards my front of my hair because that part would be out.

You can see pics of the resulting curls in my last weekly update.

What You’ll Need:

    • 2 butterfly clamps
    • bobby pins or hair pins (grab a handful)

Section off the braids at the crown of your head, including your bangs and clip them out of the way.

Make a thin diagonal part from your nape to the crown.

Roll twist or flat twist that section going up.

Pin it in place.

Continue making twists until the the back is done. Make sure they are slanted towards the part side you want your bangs to fall. You can make them any size you want. For shorter hair, I recommend  doing more twists and flat twisting.

Once you get to the side of your head, make straight parts and repeat the twisting process.

Roll the front twist away from your face and at a slight slant towards your crown.

At this point, you are essentially done with the style.

I left the other side of my hair in cascading curls. You can choose to do the same, roll and pin it, or create a pompadour.

That’s it! It should be easy and quick. Let me know if you try it and what changes you make. Thanks for reading!

    1. Thanks! 😀 I love braids too. I don’t mind spending the extra time putting them in and taking them out because I have 4+ weeks in between where I don’t have to do anything to my hair. It’s worth it to me. 🙂

    1. That’s a great option. I don’t have have any so this had to do. These aren’t too bad to sleep in but sponge rollers would make a tighter curl and might be a little softer to sleep on. 🙂
