I wanted to try something different. I don’t do many roller sets because I can’t seem to find a good set of rollers that works well for my hair type. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money and I wanted something comfortable to sleep in. I went to the Walmart website and to my surprise foam/sponge rollers were less than $4 for a pack of 48 (the regular price is almost $10 per pack)! They also offered same day site to store free shipping which was awesome. I bought 2 packs  for around $8 after tax and my order was ready for pick up in less than an hour. I paid online so all I had to do was walk to the back of the store for my order…skipping the annoying crowds and lines.

These are the rollers I used. The image will take you to the Walmart website.

To get this look, I started on dry, brushed out hair.  I didn’t add any extra products to it. I think I used a leave in and some shea butter a couple days before. I used 60 rollers (none of the pink ones) for this set. I left them in for about 3 hours then decided I didn’t want to sleep in them and took them all out. The ends did curl nicely, but the roots were very puffy. The back didn’t turn out as nice. I think smaller sections would have worked better.

Overall, my hair was really big- massive in fact. I like big hair but I felt like it was too huge, like can’t fit through a door huge, lol. The pictures don’t begin to capture what was going on. It’s still quite humid where I live and almost 90 degrees…smh…so I know this style would only get bigger. I couldn’t even do my signature flipped over to one side style because my hair was ridiculously big.

I meant to post this article yesterday, but I got busy with work. I did end up using these rollers again. I should have waited until later however because I need my hair done for Sunday and it’s only Friday. I set my hair last night. This time I did it on freshly cowashed, damp hair. I added a leave in, a curl cream, and lots of setting lotion. I used 81 rollers (again the left overs were the biggest size/pink). These were not a all comfortable to sleep in. Granted, even bobby pins bother me at night. I woke up with a headache this morning. After about 12 hours in these, my hair was still a bit damp. I did use a lot of product. I sat under the dryer for 20 minutes, got fed up, and decided to just keep the rollers in until this evening. I’ll post pics of the final product but so far, the curls are smaller and smoother than the set above.
