This update is extremely late, but I’ve been crazy busy. The pics were taken on Tuesday/Wednesday (I don’t remember), so that bits accurate. I just didn’t have time to post until now. I’ve kept the same regimen for the most part- cowashing, DC’ing, etc…

I’ve actually changed my mind and I will take these out next weekend (a week ahead of my planned date). I have a bday gathering to go to and I think these look a little too crazy for a night out. At that point, I’ll be at 5 1/2 weeks.

At the time I took these pictures, I had about 0.5″ of new growth. Some areas had a little more, others a bit less. I had trouble finding my part at the front due to the new growth, lol. For this update, I’ve included a pic of my hair down to show that the braids still look really good. Any frizz I have is at the roots only.

An Afro-American girl with afro textured hair. I found a method of maintaining my hair in braids that I'd like to share! :)

  1. Your hair looks great! I did the mini-braids only one time in December, but my hair felt very small and thin. Mini twists make my hair thicker although I have to re-do my hair every two weeks. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks! That is one of the drawback for braids, as a whole, they look much thinner than twists. But they look much neater and hold up for longer. Hopefully, by next week, I’ll have up my pictorial on how to create full- looking protective styles on mini braids.
