I don’t know what it is about a twist out that makes me hate them so much. They look great on everyone else’s hair but I really dislike them on me. I guess it’s just one of those things. Most people dislike braid outs, but I love them.

Here’s my a twist out with rodded ends that I hated. The front looked wack too but I won’t post pics because my skin was really red.

And the next day braid out. I hardly ever do a braid out on dry hair but something had to be done about the twist out. I added my leave in to the finished braids so that helped them set.

  1. I am actually partial to braidouts. I love them always but the con for them is that they require a couple of days to dry. I like twistouts, sometimes they’re actually okay and the more that I do them the better my techniques turn out. And they actually DRY the next day. lol I guess it’s all in a matter of preference, I actually like both. My least favorite style EVER is the BANTU KNOT OUT!!! I just can NOT for the life of me do a good one that I like! Uggggh!!!!

    1. My braidouts dry overnight these days. I think the trick is doing them on damp hair. I finally have a routine for decent looking work hairstyles 5 days a week. I am so with you on bantu knot outs. They can kick rocks as far as I’m concerned. I do not possess whatever black magic is needed to get them right.

      1. lol!!! I thought I was the only one who hated bantu knot outs. Cause it seems like everyone and they MAMA knows how to get a good bantu knot out but they make me look so…..wompy…lol My braids usually take about 2 days to completely dry but I end up leaving them for 3-4 days because the definition stays a lot longer. I rarely ever style my hair soaking wet. The only time that may happen is if I’m doing an install with extensions (like yarn braids). I don’t know my hair just takes a long time to dry for some odd reason and I don’t have low porosity, I’ve tested numerous times. I think my hair is just lazy or something…lol

  2. I love my twist outs I must say. I have a find 4A/B grade of hair and with my curls it looks more like a straw set but I have constantly get knots when its time to redo them. The comb out process usually leaves me very upset. Which is also why I am attempting to switch to braids instead as this is never an issue for the most part.

    1. I experience the same thing with twists. The ends of my hair always suffer. I have fine hair and usually twist outs are okay (as long as the twist aren’t in my hair for more than a day), I just don’t like the look of twist outs.

  3. I’ve been having a love hate relationship with braidouts and twistouts. Once my twistouts stop looking right, I switch to braidouts. Then when I get tired of braidouts, I go back to twistouts. But I must say, I do like the definition and hold of braidouts more than twistouts. Even though twistouts are quicker and easier to do, they sometimes leave me with puffy roots. But flat twistouts help solve that issue. Recently, I’ve just started back liking braidouts after being able to do them after I wash my hair. I let my microfiber towel soak up excess water until my hair is damp/almost dry before applying product and braiding up my hair.
