I bought a bottle of Kinky Curly Knot Today from Target forever ago. At the same time I purchased a jar of the Custard.

First Impression:

I like the smell this product as well. The consistency is unlike any other leave in product I’ve tried. It’s very light weight.

Performance:

Knot today is an excellent detangler. I’m not head over heels in love with it but I think it’s a great product to have on hand in one of those OMG how am I going to detangle this hair moments. If it came in a larger bottle and was less expensive, I would buy it in a heartbeat and use it every time I’m detangling. Due to the cost, I am okay going without it.

I use it on damp hair and it makes my hair feel amazing while it’s in but as it dries my hair does not feel moisturized. I think some people can get away with using it alone, but I’m not one of them. Lots of people use this as a base for a leave in mix, but I like it as is. The consistency is already very thin so watering it down is not something I want to do.

Pros:

It’s an all natural product that smells lovely. It provides amazing slip and makes the hair feel silky smooth.

Cons:

The price is high. It’s not an adequate leave-in/moisturizer. My hair dries and feels like I haven’t used anything on it at all…so I have to use a creamy leave in afterward and I’m not big on using a ton of products.

Verdict:

I might buy a bottle for my niece because she has coarse 4b hair. This product  does a great job of providing the right amount of slip to keep the tears at bay. I don’t need it for my hair but I would definitely buy it again if it were cheaper.
