I purchased this from CVS with the matching conditioner. There was a basket on the counter marked 90% off.

First Impression:

Unlike the conditioner, the shampoo did not smell gone off. The consistency is very thin, unlike most shampoos. It’s sulfate free and most natural. This was my first experience with non-sulfate shampoos. I’m not sure if this particular item is discontinued.

Performance:

I’ve heard non-sulfate shampoos are drying and this one is no exception. I’ve used this on my mini braids and on my loose hair. It worked far better on my mini braids than my loose hair. When shampooing my braids I concentrated on cleaning my roots only- which probably helped a lot. My loose hair felt very stripped. It took a ton of product for my hair to feel covered. Sometimes it lathers a bit but I don’t always expect that. My loose hair also felt hard after using this shampoo. I deep conditioned afterward and my hair felt fine.

Pros:

It’s sulfate free and mostly natural. It’s adequate for shampooing mini braids. My loose hair was very stretched while washing.

Cons:

It’s drying. It doesn’t sud. I have to use a lot of product and it’s very runny.

Verdict:

I won’t rebuy. I’d like to try other brands of sulfate free shampoo. In the meantime I’ll use soap bars or castle soap as my sulfate free option.
