This is my 5 year old niece. Here’s the post with pics I took while braiding. Here’s a larger set of braids from the summer. You can see the shrinkage of her 4b or 4c hair in this post.
This time around I braided on dry (unwashed) hair. Her hair was previously in large twists with bows on the roots and ends. I took each twist down, detangled with my Denman brush, then used a rat tail comb to part the hair for mini braids. I did not use much product on it really because I didn’t want her hair to shrink up while I was braiding. I put a tiny amount of Shea Moisture’s Anti-Breakage Masque mostly on the ends before I detangled the twists, just to soften her hair a bit.
These might be the smallest braids she’s had. I did it over 2 days. I think I spent 2-3 hours the first day. The second day it was around 4 hours- we watched 2 episodes of My Little Pony and Camp Rock 1 & 2. 🙂 There were some tears when I detangled the nape…there always is… But other than that she was cool. She’s enjoying whipping these braids around, lol. She also loved deciding how to style the front and where to put the clips.
So cute.
thank you!
