I wanted to wear my mini braids up and out of the way for the July 4th celebrations. Instead of the usual bun, I thought I’d add some volume to my hair with some perm rods. I cowashed my braids with Giovanni NutraFix, rinsed, then put the damp braids in a high ponytail. I used a handful of perm rods to set the ends of my hair.
My hair wasn’t completely dry in the morning so the curly ‘do wasn’t going to happen. I still got some volume from the perm rods so I finger combed my hair and smoothed all the braids to one side. I left out some braids at my bangs to flat twist and put the bulk of my mini braids in a banana clip.
Love the final look! I can’t wear banana clips in my loose hair because they just pop open. They are, however, great for mini braids. This look is perfect for summer.
All I had to do to complete my early July 4th weekend outfit was pick my accessories. I chose between two of my own earring creations. I love wood accessories because they don’t get caught in my hair. You can check out my jewelry store here:

I was wondering what style I should do for the 4th. I just bought some perm rods, so I will try to curl my mini twists. Thanks for the idea!! 🙂
