Here’ s a quick rundown of how I trim my mini braids. The pics are low budget and my nails look awful, lol…so I will retake the pics the next time I have mini braids in.

I trim one braid at a time. I try complete the whole process in one day so I don’t lose track of where I am…but that doesn’t always happen. I just make sure I don’t have to be anywhere those days.

I take off very little from the ends of my braids. It’s usually less than a quarter inch. I pinch the hair between my thumb and pointer finger to straighten out the curl, then put the scissors between my finger tips and cut.

Not all strands of hair reach the end of the braid, so I trim the hairs that stick out at the sides as well. I usually only worry about the last 2 inches of my hair, but if there’s an obvious split end or single strand knot further up, I cut it off.

And those are the basics of what I do. I trim my ends at every change in season- so four times per year. Lately, my trim days have happened to be when I’m wearing mini braids. I trim knots and split ends as I come across them…which is sometimes daily.
