I love a change in seasons for many reasons…even though I don’t get to truly experience them because I live in Florida. The equinoxes and solstices are important dates for my hair care regimen because I’ve chosen these days as the days I trim. Because my strands are very fine and fragile, it’s important that I keep my ends blunt and in good condition. Trimming four times a year is a good schedule for me. I trim on each change in season because I don’t have to worry about remembering the dates. It’s the Autumn Equinox, so I trimmed a tiny bit (less than 1/2 a centimeter) of hair off of each of my mini braids.

Last year, my hair didn’t grow or retain as much length as the previous year. I realized this was because I spent a lot less time in braids, I manipulated my hair a lot, and I didn’t trim. Any split ends I had, had the chance of travelling up the rest of my strands which caused me to lose hair to breakage. I decided I needed to trim routinely and trimming each season   was the perfect plan. I feel like 2012 will be a better year, hair care-wise, and I plan to continue this routine in the years to come.
